The 'Jurassic Gold' wood fern has an upright, vase-shaped growth habit. New fronds emerge in the spring in a beautiful golden-orange hue, then fade to yellow before turning green as they mature. The changing foliage color is extremely eye catching in the shade garden along with Hosta and Coral Bells. Plant in evenly moist, well-drained nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1"" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2"" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Excellent shade garden color and texture.
