Lady Fern 'Lady in Red' 1 Gallon

Athyrium augustum forma rubellum

This unique lady fern has soft green, lacy, upright growing fronds with rich, burgundy-red, contrasting stems that make this selection stand-out in the shade. Be sure to cut fronds back in spring, especially the first two years in the garden to best develop the red stem color. Looks wonderful planted with purple leaf Heucheras and bleeding hearts. Plant in evenly moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Excellent shade garden color and texture.
