Cultivated varieties of native coneflower have dramatically improved in recent years in order to bloom prolifically from their very first year from seed. They are exemplary magnets for butterflies and birds, and they perform wonderfully in sunny landscapes and containers, plus they offer great cold hardiness and they're very drought tolerant, once established. SunSeekers® Sweet Fuchsia blooms early summer to early fall with large, luxurious flowers featuring rows of strikingly pointed petals in rich shades of purple-red, plus a bright green center that darkens as it matures. Plant in a moist but well-drained, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting, and maintain 1" of water, once per week, for the first year. Use a slow-release fertilizer in spring or at planting, and reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
