Coneflowers have been improved dramatically over the last decades to where they now bloom prolifically their first year from seed, and they come in a variety of colors. Coneflowers are exemplary butterfly and bird magnets when planted in sunny containers and front landscapes. PowWow® Wild Berry is an award-winning variety that displays fade-proof, rosy purple fowers early summer and right into fall. Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter. Water well after planting, and maintain 1" of water, once a week, for the first year. Fertilize in spring and summer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring every 4 years.
