This large flowering, 4.5 inch, doubled coneflower nativar produces showy blooms that begin bright orange and mature to a gorgeous coral pink providing a unique two for one color effect. This coneflower is taller, but well-branched, and its sturdy stems are perfect for cutting its long lasting blooms. Literally a low maintenance coneflower, drought tolerant, needs no staking, very attractive to butterflies, and provides winter interest and seed for the birds. Plant in a moist but well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Plant alongside baby's breath, Coreopsis, gayfeather, and ornamental grasses.
