Also known as Pinks, perennial dianthus plants typically produce low-growing mounds of silvery-blue, grass-like foliage and single/double flowers with fringed or spotted petals. 'Firewitch' has magenta-pink flowers over short bluish foliage. Flowers have a light clove-like scent. Plant in well-drained, alkaline soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week, for the first year. Deadhead or shear, and fertilize, to encourage new blooms. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary.
