Asiatic Lily Looks 'Double Dutch' 2 Gallon

Asiatic Lily Looks 'Double Dutch' 2 Gallon

Lilium spp.

'Double Dutch' is a dwarf Asiatic lily variety from the Lily Looks series developed in the Netherlands. It produces unique, doubled, up facing, peach to amber flowers without pollen that were originally bred for container gardens, but its versatility and dwarf habit makes it useful in the front border of the landscape or cutting garden too. Asiatic Lilies are hybrids, bred from many different species of lilies. They develop from cold hardy, scaly bulbs producing thick, sturdy stems, short narrow leaves and topped with 4 to 6 inch wide, upward facing, trumpet-shaped blooms in mid-June to mid-July. Asiatic lilies are rarely scented, but they bloom earlier than Oriental lilies, have a more compact habit, and possess more brilliant colors and bicolors than other lily types. They work best in a sunny landscape, cutting or Asian themed gardens, in containers, and also attract pollinators. Combine with peonies, Dianthus, yarrow, and Coreopsis. Plant in well-drained, average soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1 inch of water, once a week the first year. Use Bulb-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Mulch 1-2 inches to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
