This tomatillo hybrid produces extra large, 3-6 oz., light green, rounded, flat topped fruits with a citrusy, slightly more acidic flavor than a classic tomato. Plant deep, like tomatoes, and always plant two or more plants for best pollination and fruit set. Harvest when they are bright green, firm and filling their papery tunic or husk to the point it begins to split. Because of its heavy, early yields and large size, 'Super Verde' fruits are easier to handle and process to make lots of salsa verde, soups and to use fresh in salads! Tomatillos are relatives of the ornamental perennial plant, Chinese Lantern, P. alkekengi. Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient-rich soil or containers amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week throughout the growing season. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, following label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
