This variety is an exceptional edible, but it's also extremely ornamental! 'Bright Lights' is easy to grow in both containers and in the garden, producing Day-Glo stems of yellow, pink, orange, red, and striped, topped by glossy, slightly wrinkled, bronze to deep green, tender foliage. An award winner for mild taste, vigorous growth, and beauty. Use fresh in salads or saut?ed in pasta for a marvelous presentation. Cut stems 2" from the crown to harvest and to produce more. Maturity: 30-60 days. Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient-rich soil or containers amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week throughout the growing season. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, following label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
