An extremely tasty, nutrient packed, Russian variety that grows 24" wide rosettes of slightly frilled, dark green to blue-green top cuisine leaves. This kale is a very strong grower, cool and frost tolerant once established. Harvest outer leaves when they reach 8-10", and use in salads, blanched, stir-fried or make kale chips. Plant spring or fall in containers or the garden with other cold crops, strawberries and peas. Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient-rich soil or containers amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1 inch of water once a week throughout the growing season. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, following label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
