'Red Jewel' is a tip burn-resistant cabbage variety offering a beautiful garnet color that makes it a standout at the table and a standout in the garden with its taller height. Mature heads are round, roughly 6" in diameter, and weigh about 3-3.5 lbs. Ideal for eating fresh, cooking, canning, or pickling. Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient-rich soil or containers amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week throughout the growing season. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, following label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
