Butternut Squash 'Butterfly' 3.5"

Butternut Squash 'Butterfly' 3.5"

Cucurbita spp.

This variety offers intermediate resistance to Powdery Mildew, which is a big advantage over other butternut varieties. The tan-colored fruit averages 3.5 lbs and are produced on a space-saving, semi-bush plant, and they get high marks for their uniform size and shape. 'Butterfly' has a traditional butternut shape, above average neck thickness, and its flesh is finely grained with good orange color. Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient-rich soil or containers amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week throughout the growing season. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, following label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
