Basil 'African Blue' 3.5 Inch

Ocimum kilimandsharium x basilicum All basils are tasty, but 'African Blue' also produces flowers that are pink with a dark purple calyx instead of the usual white flower with a green calyx. It is attractive as well as delicious in salads, drinks, and when used as a garnish. Also unique, this variety is sterile and so never makes a seed. The stems grow up to 18" and will bloom until frost. The flowers are well applied to sour cream, atop a pasta dish, or floated in ice trays for adding to ginger ale, champagne, or white wine spritzers. More suited for indoor growing than many basils, you can grow the summer in a pot outdoors and then transition it to your internior home space before the first frost.
