'Aurea-variegata' is a variegated, dense, grass-like sedge features thin leaves with a dark green center and yellow margins, small tan flowers, and a slow spreading habit. It's best used in woodland, deep shade, or rain gardens tolerating erosion, wet soil and deer. Combine with Brunnera and Astilbe for a beautiful shade trio. Plant in moist to well-drained, average to rich soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. In general, cut ornamental grasses down as low as possible in late winter.
