Climbing roses are best grown with support from a trellis, arbor, fence, or other structure where they can be trained vertically or horizontally. Climbing Paririe Rose is native to Ohio and much of the United States. Full sun is best to reduce disease, and it should be pruned to promote air circulation. Remove any diseased leaves promptly. Mulch roots to keep soil cool and moist, and for winter protection. Deeep pink single flowers with mild fragrance appear in late spring to early summer. There is no repeat bloom. Foliage turns deep red to purple in fall, with much variability. Hips turn red in early fall and are eaten by wildlife.
