Schefflera arboricola
Also referred to as Parasol Plant, this dwarf type of schefflera is native to Taiwan. It's an evergreen shrub featuring small, glossy leaves. It will thrive alongside other tropical houseplants when grown indoors, though it is unlikely to bloom indoors. Schefflera are easy to grow so long as they receive plenty of indirect light, warmth, and humidity. If the plant stretches or grows leggy, which can indicate insufficient light, it can be pruned to encourage fuller growth. These plants will rebound quickly from pruning to reward the owner with a lush appearance. Plant in rich, loose potting mix. During the active growing season April-September, water thoroughly whenever the soil has a chance to dry out, or about once a week. Cut back on watering during the dormant winter months. Overwatering is a sure way to lose a schefflera plant, which may be indicated by yellowing leaves that fall off the plant. These are heavy feeders, so feed routinely or twice each week during the growing season, as directed on the selected indoor houseplant packaging.
