Citrus Lime 'Persian' Std Tree 5 Gallon

Citrus Lime 'Persian' Std Tree 5 Gallon

Citrus x latifolia
Std. indicates this plant has been trained into a standard, single stem tree form with a bushy canopy. Also known as the Tahiti or Bearss Lime, 'Persian' is a dwarf citrus tree that produces limes 2-2.5 inches in diameter. The fruit is seedless and very juicy with an tart flavor that adds a tropical zip to cocktail drinks and cuisine. The plant has a stronger resistance to cold compared to other lime trees and produces fruit year-round, though most reach maturity late fall to early winter. The plant, itself, is a small handsome tree that displays dark green leaves, some with thorns (though fewer than other Mexican lime varieties). Growing dwarf citrus trees is extremely rewarding in Northeast Ohio due to their continuous, sweetly scented white blooms, their ability to produce fruit despite a shortened growing season, their compact habit, and their adaptability in container gardens to move inside for the winter months and out again onto the porch or patio come summer with glossy green oval leaves. Grow in full sun, 6+ hours of direct sun per day. Grow outdoors after last spring frost, bring back indoors after 1-2 light frosts in fall. Prefers warm to average household temperatures, 60°-85°F. Keep soil evenly moist to slightly dry. Supply extra humidity by setting on a shallow tray of moistened pebbles over winter. Fertilize with an acidic fertilizer such as Citrus-tone April-September.
