All fruit trees require full sun and produce better yields with the addition of a compatible variety of fruit tree for pollination. 'Redskin' is a cross between Elberta' and 'Redhaven' and 'Elberta'. It has showy pink flowers in spring and produces late July to early August. Fruit is firm, sweet and very juicy, freestone, red skinned with a yellow background. This peach is self-fertile. Excellent multipurpose variety for eating fresh, canning, and pies. Frost hardy and drought resistant. Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week the first year. Prune in late winter to control size and form or after flowering. Remove dead or damaged stems at any time. Feed at least twice during the growing season with a slow release fertilizer in early spring and again mid-summer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. A regular spraying schedule to reduce insects and disease is recommended.
