Peach 'Hale Haven' 10 Gallon

Peach 'Hale Haven' 10 Gallon

Prunus persica 'Hale Haven'

All fruit trees require full sun and produce better yields with the addition of a compatible variety of fruit tree for pollination. 'Hale Haven' is a vigorous, hardy, productive peach tree that produces, large, thick-skinned fruit that resists bruising. Fruit has a deep, peachy-orange to red color on the outside, and sweet, juicy but firm, freestone (falls right off the pit), yellow flesh on the inside. 'Hale Haven' blooms pink flowers in spring, ripens from mid-June to mid-July, and bears high yields once it matures to 3 to 4 years old. This peach is self-fertile, but a better producer when planted in multiples. Considered one of the best varieties for eating fresh at roadside markets or for making pies and canning at home; developed by Michigan State University. Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week the first year. Prune in late winter to control size and form or after flowering. Remove dead or damaged stems at any time. Feed at least twice during the growing season with a slow release fertilizer in early spring and again mid-summer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. A regular spraying schedule to reduce insects and disease is recommended.
