Blueberry 'Elliott' 3 Gallon

Blueberry 'Elliott' 3 Gallon

Vaccinium corymbosum spp.

This highbush blueberry is know for its very late season production in August-September. Pink to white flowers mature into one-half inch, medium-large size, blue fruit that are firm and easy to pick with a tart to sweet flavor. Glossy green foliage then turns to a golden orange in fall. Plants are self-fruitful, but you will extend your harvest by planting an early to mid producer like 'Reka', 'Northland' and 'Blue Jay' with 'Elliott' for good cross-pollination. Plant in well-drained to moist, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week the first year. Little pruning is needed. Remove a few old, weak or crowded branches to the ground in late winter/early spring. Fertilize in early spring and mid-summer with Holly-tone. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. Choose early, midseason, and late producers to extend your harvest.
