Blackhaw viburnum is a large upright deciduous shrub with glossy green foliage that turns reddish in fall. Non-fragrant white flowers in spring produce blue-black edible fruit in autumn. Great in borders, as a hedge or specimen planting. Prune after flowering to create and maintain desired form. Remove a few of the oldest stems as needed to rejuvenate the plant late winter/early spring.
