A beautiful native tree that produces unique, cream to cinnamon colored exfoliating bark and green to gold foliage in autumn providing year round interest in the landscape. This large specimen tree possesses superb birch borer resistance, heat and wet soil tolerance. Under the shade of its canopy, plant other natives such as smooth Hydrangea and perennial Lobelia, or some shade lovers astilbe, coral bells and ferns.
