Acer pensylvanicum
Striped Maple or Snakebark Maple is a shrubby native Ohio tree that grows under taller trees in average medium wet well-drained soils. Does best in consistently moist soils in part shade, does poorly in full sun. Green bark on younger limbs has vertical white stripes that give the common name. Older bark turns ruddy brown. Green leaves turn clear yellow in fall.
