Kousa or Chinese dogwood tree is a small deciduous tree that blooms larger and later than the native Flowering Dogwood. It tolerates sun better. Berry-like fruits follow the flower and are relished by birds. Fall color is reddish purple. 'Square Dance' has large white flowers in late June through July. It is more tender than the species, hardy to -5°F.
