This strawflower variety produces cheerful, large, golden daisy-like blooms with orange centers over fuzzy, green foliage and a compact, well-branched habit. All strawflowers offer excellent heat and drought tolerance, and they're known for their unusual papery to straw-like petals that crackle when touched. Flowers will close in shade or on dark, cloudy days. Use in sunny spots in the front border or in mixed containers or hanging baskets with petunias, Angelonia, licorice vine, and Pentas. They also make excellent dried flowers for arrangements and wreaths. Grow in sunny areas with well-drained, amended soil, or in containers. Feed with a slow-release fertilizer per label instructions. Trim to maintain better blooming and a tidy habit. Mulch 2 inches to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
