Pink Stonecrop 'Lidakense' Market Basket

Pink Stonecrop 'Lidakense' Market Basket

Sedum cauticola
Perennial Sedum, a.k.a. Showy Stonecrop, are long-lasting bloomers in dry rock gardens and containers, and distinctive for their fleshy foliage. They are reliable, cold hardy, easy to grow, and their flowers are excellent pollinator attractants. 'Lidakense' is a variety that forms a low, non-spreading clump of rounded, blue-green leaves that are flushed with purple. Late summer, pink star flowers appear in clusters at the end of each stem. This particular variety is well suited to edging and rock gardens, as well as tubs or alpine trough gardens. Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient rich to poor soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Pinch in June for a compact habit. Cut back hard in spring. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when plants become overgrown and floppy.
