Hedera helix Classic and well known, English Ivy is a perennial evergreen featuring glossy, dark green foliage that is highlighted with think, white veins. It is an aggressive, vigorous grower that will easily cover slopes, walls, and trellises. It grows well in any sun exposure but should remain moist in full sun, and it does best underneath trees, shrubs, and other established perennials. The 'Green' variety is a classic plant that will eventually bear insignificant greenish flowers, though it is primarily grown for its evergreen leaves. Plant in well-drained to moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Trim stems anytime for a neat appearance. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
