Also referred to as Chinese Forget-Me-Not, Brunnera is a lovely, mounded, clump-forming perennial family that is capable of illuminating shady spots with heart-shaped foliage covered in silver-white markings and veins. Blooms are like baby blue forget-me-nots held above reflective, fuzzy, bold-textured foliage. A great deer-resistant alternative to Hosta! 'Variegata' offers large, heart-shaped, deep green leaves splashed with creamy white, plus clouds of airy flowers mid to late spring. Plant in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week, for the first year. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
