Butterflyweed Milkweed 'Hello Yellow' Quart

Butterflyweed Milkweed 'Hello Yellow' Quart

Asclepias tuberosa

This brilliantly colored variety of the Butterflyweed type of Milkweed blooms with cheerful, golden yellow flowers in early through late summer. It's an easy-care, well-behaved plant that needs very little attention while also providing amazing color, plus it's an essential host and nectar source for monarch butterflies and other pollinators. Ideal for naturalized areas, meadows, and borders, this herbaceous perennial grows fast and pairs well with coneflower, Salvia, ornamental onion, and butterfly bush. Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich to poor soil amended with compost or planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Apply a slow-release fertilizer in spring and again midsummer. Cut stems or deadhead to promote reblooming. Mulch 1-2 inches to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary. Collect seeds or let them self-sow to produce more plants.
