Gaura lindheimeri 'Walgaupf'

'Pink Fountain' features 4-petaled, light pink flowers in wand-like panicles on dense, upright plants that typically grow up to 3 feet tall. Opening a few at a time, the flowers dance in the wind over a long late spring to autumn bloom period. The narrow, lance-shaped leaves on wiry stems emerge reddish in spring and mature to green over time. This plant is reminiscent of dainty, rose to soft pink butterflies fluttering in the wind. Gaura is a fantastic cut flower and container plant that blooms prolifically if deadheaded. Best planted in sunny, well-drained gardens with bee balm, Nepeta and lamb's ear. Plant in a moist but well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
