Evening Primrose, also called Sundrops, put on a show most of the growing season with four-petaled flowers covering cascading green foliage. Newer varieties tend to stay open during the day, looking their best in the front border or in a rock garden. Evening primrose prefer well-drained, nutrient-poor soil. 'Lemon Drop' is a long-blooming, low-maintenace, and a drought-tolerant variety that produces vibrant, lemon yellow flowers 1-2" in diameter that remain open during the daytime. The blossoms are mildly fragrant and present freely throughout summer, with no concerns for the heat.
