Evening Primrose, also called Sundrops, put on a show most of the growing season with four-petaled flowers covering cascading green foliage. Newer varieties tend to stay open during the day, looking their best in the front border or in a rock garden. Evening primrose prefer well-drained, nutrient-poor soil. 'Fireworks' is a compact plant with red buds opening to yellow flowers. The blossoms are mildly fragrant and present freely throughout summer, with no concerns for the heat.
