Rudbeckia hirta MiniBeckia™ Flame is a self-branching variety with a compact habit that blooms more than 8 weeks from summer to the hard frost of fall with large, semi-double flowers featuring bright yellow petals and a red eye. Plant in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter. Water well after planting, and maintain 1" of water, once per week, for the first year. Fertilize in spring. Deadhead spent flower stems for neat appearance. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary. This variety will overwinter and return for a second and possibly third season, but saving the cones and manually sowing the plant's seeds in fall will support its return the following season.
