Japanese Forest Grass 'Fubuki' 1 Gallon

Japanese Forest Grass 'Fubuki' 1 Gallon

Hakonechloa macra

'Fubuki' translates to snowstorm in Japanese, indicative of its showy creamy-white and green variegated, striped foliage that resembles a dwarf, cascading bamboo! 'Fubuki' is clump forming, producing graceful mounds of white, green and flushed pink foliage in cooler temps that are able to brighten any shade garden! Hakonechloa grasses make excellent spillers in containers, Asian or Zen garden accents, or highlight woodland areas combined with Hydrangea, ferns, Coral bells, and Astilbe. Clumps do spread gently via rhizome. Divide in spring. Plant in moist to well-drained, average to rich soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. In general, cut ornamental grasses down as low as possible in late winter.
