Dwarf Japanese Silver Grass, Zebra Grass 'Bandwidth' 3 Gallon

Dwarf Japanese Silver Grass, Zebra Grass 'Bandwidth' 3 Gallon

Miscanthus sinensis

One of the most popular ornamental grass families, Japanese Silver Grass, Maiden Grass, or Miscanthus, is identified by its whisk-like inflorescence produced late summer to late fall. Clumps form dense habits that make for an excellent garden specimen, hedge, and for cut or dried flower arrangements. 'Bandwidth' is a dwarf zebra grass variety producing narrow, upright, green foliage with showy, yellow bands. Bronze plumes form in August and persist through winter. 'Bandwidth' was selected for its excellent rust resistance, and it is a non-invasive, sterile habit. Plant this grass in container gardens, sunny rock gardens, and place in the front to middle of the landscape for excellent fall and winter interest. Plant with Perovskia, Rudbeckia and Joe-Pye Weed. Plant in well-drained, average to poor soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. In general, cut ornamental grasses down as low as possible in late winter. Divide in spring when necessary.
