Festuca glauca Blue Fescue is a family of compact, dense, mounded grass varieties that are popular as edging plants. They present thin, wheat-like blooms over fine, cool blue, spiky, perfectly-round mounds of foliage. They are perfect for containers, small spaces, and in the front of a border with companion plants like Tickseed, Black-Eyed Susans and fall-blooming Sedum. 'Beyond Blue' is a semi-evergreen variety grown for its intense, powder blue, eye-catching foliage. Plant in sunny, well-drained to moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Cut back as low as possible early spring. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary.
