Bleeding Heart 'Valentine' 2 Gallon

Dicentra spectabilis The deep red, heart-shaped flowers of 'Valentine' add a welcome twist to the cherished classics that are typically pink or white. This plant offers chains of puffy hearts late spring to early summer that dangle along frosted, plum-colored stems with icy-white inner petals that provide striking contrast. Grow this woodland perennial in rich, loose soil that is evenly moist but also well drained. Compost, humus, or peat moss are beneficial at the time of planting along with planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply in midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall. Combine with Heuchera and Brunnera.
