Aka Hummingbird Mint or Anise Hyssop with generous, sturdy, flower spikes that are produced in abundance on this showy relative of the Mint family. With aromatic, silvery blue to green foliage, repeat blooming, and a well-behaved, strong, upright habit, it's great for cutting, attracting pollinators, repelling deer, and growing in containers and in the garden. It's also long blooming, and very heat and drought tolerant, once established. Combine with Coreopsis, Coneflower, and Ornamental Grasses. 'Red Fortune' displays numerous, showy, magenta-red flower spikes held over large, deep green, minty licorice-scented foliage. Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week, for the first year. Fertilize in early spring and mid-summer with a multipurpose fertilizer. Mulch 1-2 inches to suppress weeds. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
