Stonecrop Sedum 'Autumn Joy' 2 Gallon

Perennial Sedum, a.k.a. Showy Stonecrop, are long-lasting bloomers in dry rock gardens and containers, and distinctive for their fleshy foliage. They are reliable, cold hardy, easy to grow, and their flowers are excellent pollinator attractants. 'Autumn Joy' is a sturdy variety with clumbing foliage that displays large, plate-like flower clusters that begin pink and then evolve to a rosy-red in fall. Foliage dies back to the ground in winter but begins to re-emerge in early spring. Pairs well with Coreopsis, Yarrow, Hens & Chicks, Basket of Gold, and Cranesbill. Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient rich to poor soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Pinch in June for a compact habit. Cut back hard in spring. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when plants become overgrown and floppy.
