Sedum spp. Perennial Sedum, a.k.a. Showy Stonecrop, are long-lasting bloomers in dry rock gardens and containers, and distinctive for their fleshy foliage. They are reliable, cold hardy, easy to grow, and their flowers are excellent pollinator attractants. 'Autumn Fire' displays rosy-pink flowers that age to a copper-red for stunning late season color. An improvement over 'Autumn Joy,' this variety provides deeper, longer-lasting flowers on hardier, sturdier stems. Pairs well with Aster, Yarrow, Hens & Chicks, Cranesbill, and Coreopsis. Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient rich to poor soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Pinch in June for a compact habit. Cut back hard in spring. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when plants become overgrown and floppy.
