October Daphne Variegated Stonecrop 2 Gallon

Perennial Sedum, a.k.a. Showy Stonecrop, are long-lasting bloomers in dry rock gardens and containers, and distinctive for their fleshy foliage. They are reliable, cold hardy, easy to grow, and their flowers are excellent pollinator attractants. 'October Daphne' (sieboldii) is regularly described as having the most beautiful form and foliage of all sedums. This adorable, tiny variety looks great all summer as a low, spreading species that forms a rounded mound and puts out horizontal branches from the center, featuring blue-green leaves with a yellow center outlined in a deep pink. Then, it puts on a spectacular show in autumn when the pink edges intensify and bright pink, star-shaped flowers spring from small clusters at the end of each stem. When content in its planting space, this variety will beautiful shades of pink, red, yellow, and orange during fall. Pairs well with Armeria and Silver Mound. Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient rich to poor soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Pinch in June for a compact habit. Cut back hard in spring. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when plants become overgrown and floppy.
