Also a variety of Perennial Spirea, and a member of the Visions series, this shorter variety of Astilbe produces raspberry-pink plumed that bloom mid-summer on dward, graceful, fern-like mounds of bronze-green, sharply-toothed leaves. These plants offer a cool color contrast when planted en masse in borders and containers. Chinese Astilbe varieties tolerate drought better than most other Astilbes, though they still do best in uniformly moist soil. A great choice for any gardener wanting to achieve color and texture in shady areas where other flowers won't thrive. Pairs well with hydrangea macrophylla, rhododendron, hosta, and coral bells.
