Astilbe are exceptional staples in the woodland garden, producing vibrant-colored panicle flowers over dense, fern-like foliage that is green to bronze in color. 'Maggie Daley' dipslays a profusion of narrow, dense, fuzzy, pink-lavender plumes against glossy, dark green, lacy foliage. It's a tough variety that blooms later, mid to late summer, and tolerates drier conditions than most other varieties. Plant in moist, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1?"of water, once a week, for the first year. Do not let them dry out. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring every 3-4 years, after cutting back the foliage.
