An easy-care indoor plant with large, glossy leaves, the Rubber Plant is one of the easiest in the ficus family to care for and keep alive. Though they may begin small, many rubber tree plants can become a sizeable yet manageable floor plant. Native to the rainforests of India, the Burgundy Rubber Tree makes for a spectacular indoor plant, given its borady, shiny, thick leaves that range from a rich burgundy to an almost black. Given enough light, it will happily fill the corner of a room within a few years. Grow in bright to medium, indirect lighting from an eastern or northern exposure window, or under fluorescent lighting. Prefers cool to average household temperatures, 60?-70?F. Spray mist regularly and keep soil evenly moist to slightly dry. Supply extra humidity by setting on a shallow tray of moistened pebbles. Feed with Osmocote or Miracle-Gro April-September. Grow indoors over winter.
