Didymochlaena truncatula Ferns are a classic shade plant family with numerous tropical/houseplant varieties. All are excellent as air purifying container plants, beautiful growing in hanging baskets, or displayed in terrariums, a humid bathroom or kitchen. Mahogany Fern is a tropical fern species that resembles Maidenhair fern but is more robust with upright, arching fronds that emerge pink to copper maturing to a glossy deep green with dark petioles. A large fern variety perfect for mixed shade containers paired with Begonias and Impatiens. Bring this tropical fern indoors for winter. Prefers bright, indirect light, a few hours of morning sun, cool temperatures (around 60 degrees), and high humidity.
