Indoor tropical ferns are a classic indirect to lower light plant family with numerous houseplant varieties. Some produce long, trailing fronds while others have a bushy habit with feathery leaves. All make excellent container plants, trailing from hanging baskets or sitting on the counter in the bathroom. 'Heart Fern' is also known as Tongue Fern, and is native to Southeast Asia. It's a delicate dwarf fern variety that makes an attractive speciment with its dark green, heart-shaped fronds 2-3" long on black stems. Foliage is different from other ferns in that it's thicker, more leathery, and slightly waxy. This variety grows best in bright, indirect lighting and in household temperatures of 60-85 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray mist regularly and keep soil evenly moist to slightly dry. Supply extra humidity by setting on a shallow tray of moistened pebbles. Feed with indoor houseplant fertilizer April-September per package instructions. Can be placed outdoors during summer.
