One of the top pollinator attractants for Northeast Ohio gardens and exhibits, these plants also offer excellent deer resistance! They are upright, oval- to vase-shaped varieties that range from very large to very small and compact in size, and which offer long panicles of fragrant florets in shades of pink, purple, blue and white from starting late spring and continuing until frost. They are excellent in sunny, mixed perennial beds, pollinator gardens, and shrub borders. Buzz™ Lavender is a dwarf variety, and so is considered a perennial as opposed to a shrub. It produces fragrant, light purple blossoms and stays low at just 3-5 feet tall. Plant in well-drained, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week the first year. Cut back to 6-12" in spring when new growth appears; disbud the beginning of May, June & July for compactness. Feed at least twice during the growing season with a slow release fertilizer in early spring and again mid-summer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
