Scotch Broom is a low maintenance, flowering shrub family with a round, mounding habit and thin, green stems that are riotous with fragrant, pea-flowers in late spring/early summer. True red blooms for spring.Sister Disco® Scotch broom is a far-out burst of color for your spring garden. Each pea-shaped bloom is screaming yellow dabbed with bright red. This spring bloomer is especially when paired with colorful spring blooming bulbs like daffodils, tulips, and crocus. Sister Disco Scotch broom loves sunny, dry conditions, which the bulbs also like, so pairing these plants together works visually as well as horticulturally! After blooming, wiry green stems are covered in tiny leaves, which provide a unique textural effect. Plant in well-drained, sandy soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week the first year. Prune or shear back immediately after flowering to control size, and remove stray shoots or damaged limbs anytime. Remove 1/4 of old stems from the base each year. Feed at least twice during the growing season with a slow release fertilizer in early spring and again mid-summer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. A Proven Winners® plant.
