Potentilla fruticosa A very durable, low maintenance, long blooming landscape plant that is a great choice for mass plantings. Very tough and hardy, it will thrive in many challenging locations. Its large, semi-double, medium to light pink flowers repeat bloom and are long lasting, great planted with Barberry, Junipers, and Panicle Hydrangeas. Use in shrub borders or as a colorful foundation plant. It's salt tolerant and an Ohio cultivated native. Plant in average to moist, well-drained soils. Water well after planting; maintain 1 inch of water once a week the first year. Prune in late winter removing one-third of the branches to the ground or cut back hard every 2-3 years to rejuvenate. Fertilize in early spring and mid-summer with a multipurpose slow release fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2 inches to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect.
