Cotoneaster dammeri ?Coral Beauty? is a superb, drought tolerant shrub has an attractive, low mounding growth habit. It is covered in dense, glossy green foliage, and white spring flowers are followed by bright coral-red berries that songbirds enjoy. Makes an ideal groundcover, rock garden plant, and can provide erosion control on a sloping bank. Plant with Magnolia, Juniper and roses. It prefers average to moist, well-drained soils. Water well after planting; maintain 1? of water once a week the first year. Little pruning needed; remove damaged or undesirable branches late winter/early spring. Fertilize in early spring and mid-summer with a multipurpose slow release fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2? to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
